Virgil H. DeWald

DeWald, 82, of Ellendale, ND passed away on November 4th, 2020 at the Prince of Peace Care Center. Virgil was born November 30th, 1937 near Ellendale, ND to Jacob and Ruth (Radtke) DeWald. He attended country school in Elden township and later on attended Ellendale Public School. On April 3rd, 1960 Virgil married Sarah Holsworth of Forbes, ND at Christ Lutheran Church near Ellendale. In 1962 Virgil and Sarah purchased their farm in Albion Township, where they would raise their two sons Perry and Kevin. Virgil enjoyed taking the family camping and fishing as they grew up. Virgil took great pride in his farm and ranch, a pride that he passed down to his sons and grandchildren. Virgil served many years on the Albion Township Board. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. He loved hunting, fishing, and playing cards with the neighbors. Virgil is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sarah, two children: Perry (Deb) DeWald, Ellendale, ND, Kevin DeWald, Madison, SD, three grandchildren: Amy DeWald, Ellendale, ND, Megan (Zach) Kessler, Bismarck, ND, and Jake DeWald, Ellendale, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
