Olivia Christina (Sandmeier) Schock 97 of Aberdeen, SD, formerly of Forbes, ND died October 27, 2018 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. She was born September 6, 1921 to Jacob and Christina (Kaul) Sandmeier in Long Lake, SD. Olivia was baptized October 23, 1921 and confirmed June 30, 1935 at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Long Lake. On December 9, 1945 Olivia married Ernest Schock. They lived on the Fred Hoffman farm for a couple months then purchased their own farm. On the farm, Olivia had a large garden every year and helped raise many different kinds of livestock. She also canned chicken, duck and goose and made pork and liver sausage. Later they moved to Forbes where she made many quilts. In July 2003, Olivia and Ernest moved to Aberdeen. Ernest died May 25, 2009. In 2013 Olivia moved to Parkside Independent Living in Aberdeen and in 2016 she moved to Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, LWML and Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed her grandchildren and caring for them, gardening, quilting and cooking for her family. Survivors include her daughters: Jan Mammenga, Aberdeen, SD, Sandy (Charles) Wolf, Hosmer, SD, Karen (Bob) Mohr, Mitchell, SD; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Janice (John) Stefanowicz, Ellendale, ND and sister: Elsie Geffre, Aberdeen, SD. Olivia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Ronald Schock, son-in-law: Steve Mammenga, brother: Ruben Sandmeier, grandson: Alex Mohr and many step-brothers and step-sisters. The funeral is 10:30am Saturday, November 3rd at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 624 North Jay St, Aberdeen with Pastor Jordan Andreasen officiating. Visitation is Friday 3-6:30pm and prayer service at 5:30pm all at the church. Visitation continues one hour prior to church services. Burial is at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.
