Loren D. Paul, 72 of Ellendale, ND died October 28, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Loren was born December 17, 1946 to Victor and Ada (Belz) Paul in Oakes, ND. He was educated in Fullerton, ND where he graduated from high school in 1964. Loren furthered his education at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND where he received his Auto Mechanic Degree. Loren returned home, where he farmed and worked for various employers in the area. In 1967, he enlisted in the ND National Guard, Oakes Unit and was medically discharged prior to the completion of his training. On July 1, 1967, Loren married Elaine Pahl in Ellendale. After their marriage, he farmed from 1976-1980 and continued to raise pheasants until 1989. In 1983 he graduated from auctioneer school and continued auctioneering until the time of his death. He sold the farm and they moved to Ellendale and he worked for John Deere in Ellendale and Ashley. He retired in 2015 and was enjoying is retirement. Loren enjoyed visiting, fishing, hunting, sports, drag racing, playing guitar, trap-shooting and bowling. He was also very involved in the Wildlife Federation for many years. Loren was a member and elder of Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale, and a past member of Trinity Lutheran in LaMoure where he was baptized in 1947 and confirmed in 1960. Loren is survived by his wife Elaine Paul, Ellendale, ND; children: David (Courtney) Paul, Jamestown, ND, Dawn (William) Jones, Cambridge, MN; grandchildren: Lexi, McKenzie, and Hoyt Paul; Devan and Maegan Jones; brother: Richard (Carol) Paul, Oakes, ND; step-brother: Ronald (Sheila) Willardsen, Sartel, MN and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ada (Belz) Paul, step-father, Alfred Willardsen, and his in-laws: Otto (Bertha Brandenburger) Pahl. A memorial service will be 2pm Saturday, November 2 at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale with Pastor Paul Preus officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the church service. Burial will be at a later date. Loren’s family requests Minnesota Twins, John Deere or Camo attire. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
