Ervin Edward Richter 95, of Windsor, CO formerly of Monango and Ellendale, ND died March 6, 2025 at Pathways Inpatient Care Center, Ft. Collins, CO. Ervin was born December 29, 1929 to Edward and Lydia (Raugutt) Richter and raised on a farm near Monango, ND. He attended country grade school and graduated from Monango High School in 1947. Ervin served in the United States Army from December 1948 to October 1951. He served in the 66th tank battalion for one year. In October 1950 he was shipped overseas to Korea where he fought in the Korean War until July 1951. In October 1951 Ervin was honorably discharged. In his early years Ervin attended Merricourt Congregational Church where he met Pearl Bartel and they were married July 12, 1959. Together they farmed near Monango until 1985. Due to a back problem, Ervin attended Trinity Bible College, Ellendale, later becoming their Director of Accounting until he retired in 1992. Ervin and Pearl stayed on the farm until 1997 when they sold the farm. In 1998 they moved to Bismarck, ND where they lived until 2013 when they sold their home and moved to Windsor, CO. In Windsor, they were near their son Jim (Audrey), grandsons Dustin and Tim (Ashley) and their daughter Emery. Ervin and Pearl were very happy helping to care for one-year-old Emery, she was their joy. Ervin joined The Gideons International in 1989. He was active in the Gideons at Omega Whitestone Camp, later joining the Bismarck-Mandan Gideon camp at Bismarck where he became treasurer for many years. He also enjoyed, with many of his Gideon friends, going to motels putting in new Bibles and also passing out testaments to the middle school and college students. When the Merricourt Congregational Church closed in 1970, Ervin and Pearl attended Kulm Congregational Church. When Randa went to Ellendale High School they began to attend the Ellendale Church of the Nazarene. Later they returned to Bismarck and attended the Mandan Church of the Nazarene. When they moved to Colorado they attended Loveland Church of the Nazarene. In Ervin’s later years, he enjoyed being with Pearl, sitting on the deck at home and taking in the pleasure of watching and listening to pheasants, coyotes, squirrels and birds singing in the trees. When this life is over, I shall have the privilege and joy of being with the Lord Jesus our Savior in Heaven eternal, no more worries, pains, sadness, my Lord will reign eternally. Thankful to have shared my life with my children: Debra (John) Pyles of GA, Jim (Audrey) Richter of CO, Randa Richter of FL; grandsons: Tim (Ashley) Richter, Dustin (Stephanie) Richter; great-grandchildren: Emery, Collynns, Gannon, Kohen, Aleya, and Weston.
