Darryl James Tank, 49 of Ellendale, ND died December 6, 2024 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND following complications from an accident. Darryl (and twin brother Darryn) were born September 14, 1975 joining his older sisters Valerie Tank and Julie Tank Elsen to Colleen (VanHeel) Tank and Roland Tank. Darrryl was raised on a farm outside of Ellendale. Farming and Ranching were in his blood. He loved to work with cattle, run farm equipment and anything with agriculture. He attended and graduated from Ellendale High School. Following graduation he attended North Dakota State College of Science graduating with an Associate’s Degree in the Diesel Technology Program. He was an amazing mechanic and was highly sought after for his skills. Darryl married Deborah Ann Hoffman June 2, 2001 in Aberdeen, SD. They settled in Aberdeen, SD following their wedding. Their first child Austin Lynn Tank was born January 23, 2003. Just prior to the birth of their second child Chelsey Joleen Tank August 26, 2004 they moved back to Ellendale and remained there. At this time, Darryl was able to begin his own farming and ranching operation. In April 2016, he opted to shift gears and became the owner/operator of Tank Custom Manure Hauling. He enjoyed doing this work and met some amazing people along this journey. He was blessed to work this business with family, friends and his son. His pride and joy however were his children and grandchildren. Chelsey and her fiancé Kael Grebel welcomed our first grandchild Grayson James Grebel on April 10, 2023 and our second grandchild Westlynn Norah Grebel June 5, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother Colleen Tank. Survivors include his children; Austin Tank (Ellendale), Chelsey Tank (LaMoure), Brother Darryn Tank (Alaska), Sisters; Julie (Michael) Elsen (Hecla, SD), and Valerie Tank (Jamestown).
A celebration of life service will be held 1-3pm Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Church of the Nazarene, Ellendale. There will be a private burial at a later date. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
