Boston Daniel Dean Hagen, “Bean” to family and friends, 18 of Fullerton, ND died October 18, 2023. He arrived May 3, 2005 2 weeks late to his birth. He started his life on his own time and that theme continued on. He was born to Bob and Niki Hagen at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. He lived his first 4 years of life in Leola, SD, surrounded by his cousins, who were more like his siblings. Boston and his family moved to Fullerton, ND the summer of 2009. He was educated in Ellendale graduating from Ellendale High School in 2023. Boston was still finding his path in life. He decided to take a gap year prior to college, to work on his music and figure out what he wanted to be when he grew up. He took a job at Dollar General in Ellendale to pass the time and to have money for his hair care needs and ever expanding shoe collection. During his high school years, he was involved with football and basketball which he enjoyed very much. He was great mentor and friend to his fellow teammates. Boston was an amazing older brother to not only his two little brothers, but to many of his friends and cousins. He enjoyed playing computer games and writing his own rap music. He was very talented at both. Boston loved his brothers with all his heart, was very close to his cousins and had many friends who he cared about. Boston was full of laughter and always enjoyed making people laugh. He loved acting like a “tough guy” in most photos, refusing to smile, but when you got one of him smiling it could melt your heart. Those who know Boston, knew he was obsessed with his hair (he did have great hair). He couldn’t pass a mirror without checking his reflection. Boston was a momma’s boy through and through, they shared a true bound and had a relationship as not just mother and son but as truly close friends. A large chunk of his family’s future and heart left along with Boston. He will truly and deeply be missed by all who knew him. Boston was a shining star who was just too much for this world to handle, he was needed for bigger things. He is back with the stars forever watching over all of us. His mother used to sing this song to him as a baby and on through life so it seems appropriate to add and may have led to his future hair obsession. “Boston Daniel Dean he’s the prettiest boy I’ve ever seen, we love our Boston Daniel Dean” Boston is survived by his parents: Bob and Niki Hagen, Fullerton; two brothers: Lennon and Archur Hagen, Fullerton; paternal grandparents: Dennis and Virginia Hagen, Fullerton, and maternal grandparents: Kerry and Wanda Gill, Leola and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal great-grandparents. His name’s sake Daniel Dean Lechner.
