Betty Jane Filbert

Betty Jane Filbert, 70 of Ellendale, ND died Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, ND. A time of fellowship will be held 1-5pm July 22, 2023 at the American Legion in Ellendale. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.

Betty was born March 31, 1953 to Verner and JoHannah (Walz) Otterstetter in Ellendale, ND. She was educated and graduated in Ellendale and went on to attend Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND. On March 3, 1973 Betty married Dwight Filbert in Ellendale at Zion Lutheran Church. They returned to Ellendale and Betty began working at the hospital, clinic and later social services. In the spring of 1998 she began working in Aberdeen for work at the Dakota Plains Surgical Center. Betty retired in 2016 and then enjoyed some time caring for her grandson. In 2019 Dwight died and Betty continued living at her home in Ellendale until she moved to Good Samaritan Society, Oakes in 2021. Betty loved to flower garden and also raised some vegetables. She was a shopper and also enjoyed the time with the grandchildren, visiting with friends, being outside and Bingo. Betty is survived by her sons Aaron (Destiny) Filbert, Ellendale, ND, Jesse Filbert, Monango, ND; five grandchildren Remington, Hannah, Danika Filbert, Owen Seelye, Hunter Filbert one sister Linda (Steve) Heil, Bismarck, ND; three sisters-in-law: Mary Loewen, Ellendale, ND, Mary Filbert, Ellendale, ND Barb Filbert, Ellendale, ND; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (December 5, 2019), five brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. A memorial service will be held 1-5pm July 22, 2023 at the American Legion in Ellendale. Burial will be at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
