Hulda Wolff, 89 of Aberdeen, SD formerly of Ellendale, ND was born September 25, 1920, to Phillip and Christena (Madke) Walz near Forbes, ND. She was raised on a farm between Forbes and Ashley, ND. On April 7, 1939, Hulda married Ernest Wolff. They made their home on a farm west of Forbes for 11 years, then they moved into Forbes where Ernest had a black-smith shop. Hulda worked at the Forbes café for nine years and cleaned homes for other people. After being in Forbes for 12 years they moved to Ellendale where Ernest had a cement business. Hulda worked at the grocery store, hospital and clinic in Ellendale. Hulda retired in 1985. In 1988 Ernest died and Hulda continued living in their home. Hulda was a member of the Church of Nazarene, Ellendale, ND. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and ceramics and also loved cooking, baking, gardening and flowers. In July 2006 Hulda moved to Manor Care in Aberdeen, SD where she resided until her death March 21, 2010. Hulda is survived by two sons: Willard (Beverly) Wolff of Aberdeen, SD, James (Ethel) Wolff of New Orleans, LA; five grandchildren: Lori Peterson, Mountain House, CA, JoAnn (Warren) Golla, Eden Prairie, MN, Rhonda (Steve) Sommers, Aberdeen, SD, Jake and Jenny Wolff, New Orleans, LA and four great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Jessica Sommers and Sierra and Anika Golla; one brother: Phillip Walz of Ellendale, ND. Hulda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and five sisters. The funeral service is 2pm Saturday, March 27 at Church of the Nazarene, Ellendale, ND with Pastor Tim Brown officiating. Visitation will be 3-8pm Friday with a prayer service at 7pm all at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel. Our family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff at the Manor Care Home and North Plains Hospice for the loving care they gave our mother and to everyone for their prayers and words of kindness during this difficult time.
