Arlena I. (Hauck) Heinrich, 90 of Fargo, ND formerly of Ellendale, ND died December 25, 2017 at her home at Edgewood Vista in Fargo, ND. Arlena was born May 28, 1927 near Forbes, ND to Albert E. and Emma (Dewald) Hauck. She was baptized July 24, 1927 at Salem Reformed Church and confirmed June 22, 1941 at Reformed Church in Ashley, ND. She attended and graduated from Forbes Public School in May 1945. Arlena married Harold E. Heinrich on November 4, 1945 in Forbes and joined St. Peters Lutheran Church of Forbes on November 20, 1945. They lived with her parents until March 1946 when they purchased a farm two miles west of Forbes residing there for 35 years. In 1980 they moved into Ellendale and remained involved with the farm for many years. Arlena always talked farming as she observed crops on driving trips and always kept track of commodity prices. Arlena and Harold enjoyed traveling and in 1982 began spending their winters in Mission, Texas. After Harold’s death March 26, 2007, Arlena continued to reside in Ellendale until she moved to Fargo. Arlena was a former member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Forbes playing the organ at both. In 1980 she became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ellendale. She was active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), Germans from Russia, American Legion Auxiliary, Forbes Homemakers Club and was also a 4-H leader. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing, especially the Polka. Grateful to have shared in her life are her three sons: Duane (Kathy) Heinrich, Fargo, ND, Gary (Pat) Heinrich, Portage, MI, Monty Heinrich, Minneapolis, MN; two daughters: Sandra (Wayne) Knudson, Larimore, ND, Nancy (Bruce) Fick, Zumbro Falls, MN; eight grandchildren: Lori Knudson, Nathan (Erin) Heinrich, Stacey (Brandon) Ostby, Alison Heinrich, Robert (Alison) Heinrich, David (Katie) Knudson, Shaniece Fick (special friend Travis Diekmann), Christopher Fick; six great-grandchildren: Molly and Piper Knudson, Deegan Ostby, Adelyn, Ella, Quinn Heinrich; sisters-in-law: Darlene Hauck, Forbes, ND, Viola Heinrich, Ashley, ND and brother-in-law: Ervin (Ellen) Heinrich, Morgan Hill CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold and brother Arvin Hauck. The funeral service will be 10:30am Friday, December 29 at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale with Pastor Paul Preus officiating. Visitation is Thursday 3-6:30pm with a prayer service at 5:30pm all at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Burial is at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel.
