Mayme Pearl Linder

d. August 2, 2017

Mayme Pearl Linder of Ellendale, ND entered into the Kingdom of God on August 2nd, 2017 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Mayme was born to Gladys Esther (Jones) and Robert Krause of Ellendale, ND. She graduated from Fullerton High School, Fullerton, ND. She not only attended school there, but held many jobs which ranged from babysitting to working as a telephone operator. She also worked for Peter Fox after High School. While out with friends, she met Arthur Linder. They were united in marriage on January 21, 1953 at St. Helena Church in Ellendale, ND and have been together in blessed unity for 64 years. Mayme led an interesting life when it came to employment as she worked at the Coffee Shoppe until Art was out of basic training in the Air Force. She then joined him in Amarillo, Texas until Art was transferred to Rapid City’s Ellsworth Air Force Base where their family grew when daughter Linda was born. Linda and she returned to Ellendale, where Mayme worked at the Coffee Shop once again when Art was deployed to Korea. Mayme and Linda relocated to Fitzsimons in Denver, Colorado to be near her beloved husband during his recovery from a serious injury while serving in the Air Force. During this time Mayme worked at a truck stop cafe. When Art recovered they returned to Ellendale where Mayme worked at the Sunset Creamery packing butter and eggs. Their family also grew again as a second daughter, Cindy, was born. Mayme babysat during the day and worked in the evenings at the Ellendale Theater. Mayme’s other jobs included Montgomery Wards, Kosel’s 4-Seasons, 2nd Chance, Fran’s Bakery and various other part time jobs. She was also an active Girl Scout leader for several years. In 1994, Mayme decided to quit work and enjoy her growing crop of Grandchildren. Naturally, since she only experienced raising girls, her Grandchildren were all boys! She loved them dearly even when she had to dodge the occasional mishit golf ball, untangle a fishing line, or fish one of them out of lake because he rode a bicycle off the end of the dock or tipped a canoe. One of her biggest “pleasures” out at the lake cabin was cleaning the fish brought back by her boys when Grandpa took them fishing. Camping trips to the Black Hills, Canada, and Minnesota with family were enjoyed by all along with the yearly 4th of July celebrations at the lake. Easter and Christmas with everyone gathered around were very special with Grandma and will continue to be treasured memories. Additional interests Mayme had included gardening, crocheting, cross stitch, embroidery, crossword puzzles, solitaire, reading and playing card games with family. Celebrating sharing her life, Mayme is survived by her loving husband Arthur Linder, daughter Cindy (David) Bachelor, Valentine, NE; grandchildren: James (Kaela) Bachelor, Custer, SD, Matthew (Bodell) Bachelor, Valentine, Kyle Bachelor and Joshua Bachelor of Valentine; great-grandchildren: Sadie, Lauren, and Tyler Bachelor and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Esther and Robert Krause, brother Harold Krause, sister Mildred Krause, daughter Linda Lou (Schwan) Linder, and grandson Michael Richard Bachelor. The funeral service is 10am Monday, August 7 at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale with Father Jason Asselin officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services on Monday. Burial is at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
