Martha M. Bartel

Martha M. Bartel, 100, of Aberdeen, SD formerly of Ellendale and Monango, ND died October 19, 2015 at Manor Care Health Services, Aberdeen. She was born August 24, 1915 to William and Katherine (Hein) Grueneich. She grew up in the Ashley and Monango area. Martha attended the rural school in Monango. She helped on the family farm until she married Rudolph Bartel on July 7, 1935 at Monango. They farmed together until their retirement in 1971 when they moved to Ellendale. Martha held various jobs in Ellendale. Rudolph died December 29, 1982. Martha continued to live in her home in Ellendale until she entered Manor Care Health Services in 2013 where she died peacefully. Martha is grateful to have shared in her life with her three daughters: Marion (Martin) Richter of Monango, ND, Pearl (Ervin) Richter of Windsor, CO, Bernice (Gary) Olson, Bath, SD; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; one brother: Marvin (Joan) Grueneich of Ellendale, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter: Nora Mueller, three brothers and two sisters. Martha M. Bartel, 100, of Aberdeen, SD formerly of Ellendale and Monango, ND died October 19, at Manor Care Health Services, Aberdeen. The funeral is 10:30am Thursday, October 22 at Church of the Nazarene, Ellendale with Pastor Annie Kee officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
