Christine Avis Hildenbrand

Christine Avis Hildenbrand, daughter of John & Katherine Lang (Mayer) was born March 28, 1917 at Lehr, ND. Christine was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod faith. Prayer was important to her. Christine was called to her Heavenly home in the loving arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on her 98th birthday in the early morning hours at Evergreen Place in Ellendale on March 28, 2015. She graduated from Lehr, ND High School in 1937. On January 9, 1939; Christine and Harold were married in Leola, SD. They moved to a farm by Medina ND in 1941 and farmed there for 7 years. Roger was born April 13, 1942 at Jamestown, ND. Harold and Christine moved to Jamestown ND for 18 months before buying a farm in Monango in October 1949. Colleen was born August 17, 1953 in Ellendale, ND at the present place of the Evergreen Place. In the 1980’s Harold and Christine spent winters in Lodi, CA with daughter Colleen. They bought a home in Lodi and resided there for 6 years until 1992 when Harold suffered a stroke. They returned to Ellendale the fall of 1992. Harold became a resident of Prince of Peace Care Center in October 1992 and resided there until his death on December 21, 2006. Christine resided on Prairie View Drive until August 2012 when her “new home” became the Evergreen Place in Ellendale, ND. Christine will be remembered for loving to cook and bake for family and friends. We will miss her dill pickles and potato salad. Her joy in life was growing a garden and flowers. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Christine came from a family of 8 brothers and 5 sisters. Christine is survived by her brother Reinhold (Micky) Lang of Anoka, MN; son, Roger Hildenbrand of Monango, ND; daughter, Colleen Christine (Earl) Rempfer of Lodi, CA; grandchildren, Cari Christine (Martin) Haase of Aberdeen, SD; Jason (Sabrina) Hildenbrand of Monango, ND; Ryan (Amanda Janke) Hildenbrand of Monango, ND; Heidi (Mahesh) Pant of Granite Bay, CA; Cody (Shokey Yousefi) Rempfer of Salt Lake City, UT; Heather (Matthew) Francis of Temecula, CA; great grandchildren, Erin, Isaac, and Amy Haase of Aberdeen, SD; Rachelle (Dylan) Slotten of Fargo, ND; Dustin Hildenbrand of Monango, ND; Colton Rall of Monango, ND; Kaia Christine Francis (5 weeks old) of Temecula, CA; and many nieces and nephews and family. Preceded in death by Christine are her parents John and Katherine Lang; brothers, Jacob, Fred, Johnny, Paul, Willie, Raymond, and Kenneth; sisters, Lydia, Hilda, Katherine, Viola, and Delores. The funeral is 10am Saturday, April 4, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale with Pastor Paul Preus officiating. Visitation is 2-6pm Friday with a prayer service at 5:30pm at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Visitation continues one hour prior to services on Saturday.
