Pearl E. Pahl

Pearl E. Pahl, 83, of Britton, SD formerly of Guelph, ND was born November 26, 1931 on the family farm to Johnny and Edith (Flagol) Mueller. She was raised on the farm in the Ellendale area. Graduating in 1949 from Ellendale High School. Pearl married Emil Pahl on April 6, 1950. Pearl began working for Doc. Porter in Ellendale after high school and continued until after she and Emil were married. Pearl and Emil began farming in the Guelph area were their three boys Tom, Rick and Tim were born. In 1976 they moved to Oakes, ND where they owned and operated the E & I Motel. Later they sold the motel and returned to Guelph. Emil died April 4, 2005. That same year, Pearl had knee surgery and experienced complications that confined her to a wheelchair and the nursing home till her death December 28, 2014 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton, SD. Pearl was a member of the Sing-n-Aires, Birthday Club and Homemakers Club. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church of Guelph. She is survived by three sons: Tom (Jeanne) Pahl of Oakes, ND, Rick (Carla) Pahl of Claremont, SD, Tim (Barb) Pahl of Guelph, ND; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild; one brother: Kenneth (Betty) Mueller of Rapid City, SD; three sisters: Betty Jean Derry (Bill) Jungblood of Wahpeton, ND, Yvonne (Larry) Wilbur of Spearfish, SD, Sally Ann (Dell) Widmer of Kulm, ND. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; her parents and one great-grandson, Kasey Lane Pahl. The funeral is 10am Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Guelph Gymnasium with Father Doyle Burkhardt and Father Christian Sanyoni officiating. Visitation is 2-6:30pm Monday with a prayer service is 5:30pm all at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale, ND. Burial is at 1pm Tuesday at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel.
