Olive I. Miller

Olive Irean (Hill) Miller, 95, Ellendale, ND died September 5, 2014 at Oakes Community Hospital, Oakes, ND. The Funeral is 1:30pm Tuesday, September 9 at New Life Assembly of God Church formerly Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Bob Forbes officiating. Visitation is 2-7pm Monday at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale and one hour prior to church services. Burial is at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Olive Irean (Hill) Miller was born February 8, 1919 to Bird J. and Sarah (Winslow) Hill on a farm one-half mile west of Forbes, ND. Olive attended various country schools. She worked as a hired girl for different families in the Ellendale, ND area. On December 30, 1940 Olive married the love of her life, Arthur E. Miller of Ellendale. Arthur was the son of John E. and Mary (Weis) Miller. Art and Olive purchased a farm in Kentner Township in 1943, which they operated until they retired. In 1977 they purchased a 20-acre plot one-quarter mile from the original farm where they resided until 1999 when they moved into Ellendale. Olive remained in her own home until July 30, 2012 when she moved to her new home at Evergreen Place. She resided there until she fell asleep September 5, 2014 at the Oakes Community Hospital surrounded by her children. She loved living at the Evergreen and her new friends felt like family. Olive was the kindest, sweetest lady you could ever meet. She loved everyone. She loved reading her bible, embroidering, gardening, flowers, word search books and visiting with others. She was a member of the Ellendale Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was grateful to have shared her life with her late husband: Arthur of 59 years; three sons: Roy (Virginia) Miller, Ellendale, ND, Donald (Elva) Miller, Arvada, CO, Delbert Miller, Sparks, NV; one daughter: Sherry (Ron) Fingarson, Lake Park, MN; seven grandchildren: Kirk (Theresa) Miller, Kerry (Wayne) Hample, Marlo (Jason) Quade, Brent (Katie) Miller, Ryan (Traci) Fingarson, Chalcee (Kirk) Schuck, Cody (Taryn) Fingarson; 11 great-grand children: Shalyn, MaKayla and Sierra Hample, Elizabeth, Mary, and Sarah Labuhn, Merrick, Gavin, Riley and Madison Miller, Jaeger Fingarson. One sister: Francis (Leonard) Olson, Sweet Home, OR. She was preceded in death by husband, Art, her parents, brothers: Wayne Hill, Glenn Hill, Vernon Hill, Ivan Hill and sisters: Fern Hilscher and Ruby Ward.
