Paul Devere Steen, 97 of Ellendale, ND, formerly of Mobridge, SD, died February 13, 2012, at Manor Care, Aberdeen, SD. Paul was born April 24, 1914, in Ipswich, SD. He was the son of Charles Bascomb and Johnnie Beals (Stewart) Steen. Paul spent many years in Mobridge as a contractor and moved to Aberdeen where he worked for Scherle Sales and Super 8 Motels. Later, he moved to Ellendale, ND where he helped with the planning of remodeling the old Opera House. Paul enjoyed people. He also enjoyed reading poetry, building, gardening, playing golf, watching sporting events and especially loved dancing and telling stories. Survivors include his son David (Claudia) Steen, Klamath Falls, OR; one grandson: Justin (Mandy) Steen; great-granddaughters: Ella and Sophie Steen and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Charles Steen Jr.; sister: Dorothy Steen D’Amato, and special friend Fern Jetton.
